Gallery 93 – New Exhibit: On-Kyeong Seong, Chromatic Bloom

Brookline, Massachusetts, Gallery 93 at the Brookline Senior Center is pleased to present Chromatic Bloom by artist On-Kyeong Seong. The exhibit runs from June 3 – through August 30, 2024. A reception for the artist will be held on Thursday June 13 from 1:30-3:00 pm with an artist’s talk held at 2:00 pm. Gallery 93, located at 93 Winchester Street, Brookline, MA, is open from 8:30-5:00, Monday through Friday. This is a FREE exhibit.

On-Kyeong explores the play of abstracted natural forms and utilizes watercolor, painting, stitched imagery and collage in her work. She says of her work: “I embark on a journey of discovery akin to observing nature under magnification. Through contemplating the beauty and the ugliness inherent in these forms, I conceive of hybrid compositions that celebrate the profound interconnectivity of all living beings. As I guide my image through the sewing machine, I am reminded of the threads that bind us to nature and to each other.”

On-Kyeong Seong is a mixed media artist originally from Seoul, South Korea and currently lives and works in Peabody, MA. She was an elementary school teacher in South Korea in many years. She was interested and skilled in art since her childhood which led her to pursue art in college. She received her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and her second BFA from Lesley University Art and Design, Cambridge. Her work has been exhibited widely, including Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI, former Costal Contemporary Gallery, Newport, RI, Cambridge Art Association, Cambridge, MA, Wheelock College and Boston University, Boston; Kingston Gallery, Boston; the Korean Consulate General, Newton, MA; Brookline Art Center, Brookline, MA; Harvard University and Mass Art College, Boston, among others.
