Nature Walks With the Brookline Recreation Department

Lace up those walking shoes and plan a walk or two with the Brookline Recreation Center. A great opportunity to get exercise, explore nature, and meet some new people. Use the link above to sign up. Restfulness in Nature at Houghton Garden | Tuesday, 9/9 | 10am-12:30pm | $7 per person
We will reconnect with nature through a restful walk on this one-mile trail that features gravel and dirt paths winding through wetlands and twisty trails through oak and cherry groves. We will be taking plenty of pauses to enjoy being outdoors in community with each other. There are a few tripping hazards, such as rocks and small logs, along the way. The trail is uneven. This trail is not walker or cane friendly. Please bring plenty of water and snacks! Transportation is provided from Brookline Senior Center to the park. The bus leaves promptly at 10am. Our estimated return time is 12:30pm. Pre-registration is required. We are unable to accept walk-in registrations.
Nature’s Architects at Cutler Park | Tuesday, 9/16 | 10am-1pm | $7 per person
Ever wondered how one species can engineer and change entire ecosystems? We will spend our morning at Cutler Park exploring excellent beaver habitat as we learn about how they truly are Nature’s Architects. There are a tripping hazards, such as rocks and small logs, along the way. This trail is not walker friendly. Please dress for the weather and bring a water bottle! Transportation is provided from Brookline Senior Center to the park. The bus leaves promptly at 10am. Please bring some snacks or lunch as we may not return until 1pm. Pre-registration is required. We are unable to accept walk-in registrations.

Changing Seasons Celebration at Arnold Arboretum | Tuesday, 10/14 | 10am-12:30pm | $7 per person
Join Brookline Recreation’s naturalist on a guided excursion around the picturesque and fantastical Arnold Arboretum. Here, we will learn about and celebrate how amazing trees are during the changing seasons! Trails are paved and packed gravel or mulch and include some gentle hills and phenomenally curated tree specimens. Please dress for the weather and bring a water bottle! Transportation is provided from Brookline Senior Center to the Arboretum. The bus leaves promptly at 10am. Pre-registration is required. We are unable to accept walk-in registrations.
