About The Home Modification Loan Program
The Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP) is a statewide program funded by the Mass Rehab Commission to help elders and people with disabilities increase the accessibility of their residences through no interest loans. The program offers loans from $1,000 to $50,000 to individuals and families for modifications related to a disability. Typical modifications include ADU’s, the installation of ramps and lifts, widening of doorways, and alteration of kitchens and bathrooms. The loan terms are zero interest, and the loan does not have to be repaid until the home is sold or transferred.
