Health Education Presentations by MCPHS Students

At the Senior Center this month, we are collaborating with Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences of Boston students who will be giving health education presentations on a variety of topics in an effort to create a positive influence on the health of community members who come to the Center. The topics are as follows:

Monday, April 1 at 1:00 pm: Safe Over‐The‐ Counter Medicine Use in Older Adults Join us to learn about how to safely use over‐the ‐counter medication to manage different health conditions as older adults. Find out which medication to avoid or use with caution! The presentation will include OTC medications that worsen cognitive function and memory loss in older adults. We will also discuss ways to increase medication adherence for those who have trouble remembering to take their medications as prescribed.

Monday, April 8 at 1:00 pm: Osteoporosis and Fall Prevention The MCPHS‐Boston APhA‐ASP Reproductive Health Committee will present how to prevent falls in daily life and what osteoporosis is. Donʹt miss this opportunity to learn more about bone health and fall prevention. Topics will include an overview of osteoporosis, risk factors, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and screening, lifestyle modifications, and fall prevention.
